High Country United Way

2006/2007 Campaign Kickoff:
July 14, 2006, noon – 1:00 at First Citizens Bank, Hwy 105, Boone.
Free hotdogs and soft drinks. Announcement of “Hit the Highway with High Country United Way” and learn how to win a new car by donating to High Country United Way.

“Hit the Highway with High Country United Way”
At the High Country United Way campaign kick-off on July 14, Joe Gay, 2006/2007 Campaign Chair, announced the first “Car Give-Away” raffle to benefit High Country United Way during the 2006/2007 campaign. High Country United Way is grateful to Boone Ford-Lincoln-Mercury, High Country Honda, Norman Cheek’s Toyota-Scion of Boone, and Ross Chrysler–Jeep-Dodge for sponsoring this raffle to aid in raising funds for the community.

A new vehicle from one of the sponsoring dealers will be given away to one lucky winner in December 2006. Watch for further details on how to enter!

Leadership Gala:
Sunday, June 25, 2006 at Blowing Rock Country Club. HCUW held its second annual Leadership Gala at Blowing Rock Country Club to honor the 99 members of the High Country Leadership Society and the Alexis de Tocqueville Society on Sunday, June 25, 2006. An evening of fine dining followed by a Broadway musical revue was enjoyed by all.

Jenny Miller, Executive Director, presented the following awards for outstanding contributions in volunteer support and fund raising efforts during the 2005 Campaign: the Mountain Spirit Award to Elk River Club, the Pacesetter Award to Mast General Store and the Business Leader Award to The Rotary Club of Blowing Rock. The Vision Award was presented to the Josephine S. Leiser Foundation by Tricia Wilson, High Country United Way’s Board Chair-Elect.
